Revelation 10:1–2 (NKJV) “I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. 2 He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land.”
Sometimes, before God speaks clearly, He first reveals His presence.
In Revelation 10, John sees a mighty messenger descending from heaven:
- clothed with a cloud,
- crowned with a rainbow,
- shining like the sun,
- and standing over both sea and land.
This is not an ordinary moment.
The cloud reminds us of God’s presence and glory throughout Scripture. The rainbow points back to God’s covenant with Noah — mercy in the midst of judgment. Even here in Revelation, mercy is still visible.
The messenger’s face shines like the sun, reflecting divine authority and heavenly glory. His feet stand firmly upon both land and sea, reminding us that God’s authority extends over every place — stable or unstable, calm or chaotic.
What is especially powerful is this:
Before the roar.
Before the thunders (seven).
Before the mysteries unfold.
God first reveals the majesty of the One carrying the message.
Sometimes God prepares our hearts for revelation by reminding us that He is still in control.
And even in difficult seasons…
The rainbow is still visible.
Reflection Thought:
Where in your life do you need to remember that God still stands over both the sea and the land?
Prayer:
Lord, help me trust Your authority even when life feels uncertain. Remind me that Your mercy is still present, Your covenant still stands, and Your presence still surrounds Your people. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
